Severe Weather Awareness Week - January 31st - Feb 4th 2011 

The State of Florida has declared January 31st through February 4th, Severe Weather Awareness Week in 2011.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne will be participating as a partner in spreading the word about weather hazards that can impact the state throughout all seasons of the year.

Each day this week will focus on a different weather hazard that affects Florida:

Monday, January 31 2011 Lightning Awareness Day
Tuesday, February 1 2011 Marine Hazards and Rip Current Awareness Day
Wednesday, February 2 2011 Tornado and Thunderstorm Awareness Day
Thursday, February 3 2011 Hurricane and Flooding Awareness Day
Friday, February 4 2011 Temperature Extremes and Wildfire Awareness Day
