Slide 26 of 28
Notes:
Within the family of supercells, a type called the heavy precipitation (HP) supercell is predominate mostly in the southern U.S.. Because of the presence of more precipitation which wraps around the hook echo part of the storm, the hook is not always visible on radar. This is evident where the HP supercell to the left of the yellow arrow does not exhibit a hook echo.
This storm produced an F3 tornado.
