Coop Corner:  It's a Family Affair!

Over the last thirty years in Memphis, the average snowfall has been 3.7 inches.  Last winter, we surpassed that average with our snowstorm of 4.2 inches.  Areas in Northwest Tennessee average around nine inches; while in North Mississippi, the average is less than two inches.  But many winters recently have been below average -- and the average itself has been decreasing.

Normally, we have just one snowstorm of an inch or more each year -- though trace amounts of snow can fall in any one of six months -- October, November, December, January, February, and March.  There have even been a few early April snows in the Mid-South.

The snowiest season in Memphis: 25.1 feet in 1917-1918!
