NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEMPHIS, TN

...STORM DAMAGE SURVEY CONDUCTED IN HENRY COUNTY TENNESSEE...
...ESTIMATED 120 MPH WINDS PRODUCED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE NORTH OF
PARIS...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MEMPHIS TN CONDUCTED A STORM SURVEY
OF THE DAMAGE IN HENRY COUNTY TENNESSEE. THE DAMAGE WAS THE RESULT
OF SEVERE STRAIGHT LINE WINDS THAT WERE PRODUCED BY A SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF NOVEMBER 6TH.

THE DAMAGE THAT RESULTED FROM THE STORM OCCURRED JUST NORTH OF PARIS
TENNESSEE. THE CORRIDOR OF DAMAGE COVERED APPROXIMATELY 9
MILES...BUT WAS NOT CONTINUOUS AND WAS ONLY 300 YARDS WIDE AT ITS
GREATEST WIDTH. THE DAMAGE BEGAN NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF HIGHWAY
641 AND VAUGHN ROAD. ALONG THE DAMAGE PATH...THREE MOBILE
HOMES...TWO BUSINESSES...AND A RESIDENTIAL HOME WERE COMPLETELY
DESTROYED. ONE OTHER RESIDENCE ALSO RECEIVED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. THE
NEW BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH ON OLD PARIS MURRAY ROAD ALSO RECEIVED
SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE ESTIMATED 120 MPH WINDS STRUCTURALLY
COMPROMISED THREE WALLS AND BLEW OUT SEVERAL WINDOWS. SEVERAL OTHER
BUILDINGS ALONG THE PATH OF THE DOWNBURST RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE.
NUMEROUS LARGE TREES WERE SNAPPED AND UPROOTED AS WELL. THE DAMAGE
PATH ENDED NEAR MCGEHEE LANE.

FORTUNATELY...NO INJURIES OR FATALITIES RESULTED FROM THIS SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM. DAMAGE ESTIMATES ARE STILL BEING ASSESSED AND WILL BE
PROVIDED AS SOON AS THIS INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE. THE FINAL
NUMBERS WILL ALSO BE PUBLISHED IN THE NOVEMBER EDITION OF STORM
DATA.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE ENTIRE STAFF OF
THE HENRY COUNTY EMA...ESPECIALLY RON WATKINS. WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO
EXTEND OUR GRATITUDE TO MARK HOLOMON OF THE WEST TENNESSEE EMA. THE
