The tornadic thunderstorm that killed five persons in northeast Arkansas and northwest Tennessee also produced a brief tornado with attendant damage in Blytheville, Arkansas. Striking that northeast Arkansas city at 3:25 a.m., the tornado caused F-0 to F-1 damage. The damage was in a two-block section of the south-central part of Blytheville -- between the downtown area and Interstate Highway 55. Many large trees in that area were toppled, and several residences sustained roof damage. Also heavily damaged (roof) was a Kroger grocery and a couple of commercial buildings along Highway 61 south of downtown.
