Severe thunderstorms moved across northeast Oklahoma during the very
early morning of July 3rd. Strong thunderstorm winds blew the tin
siding off a barn in Nowata and also blew down large tree limbs in
Nowata. Large tree limbs were also blown down in Delaware, and 60 mile
an hour winds blew down large tree limbs at Wah-sha-she State Park 6
miles northeast of Bowring. Thunderstorm winds also gusted to 60 miles
an hour in Lenapah. Nickel size hail fell at Copan, and dime size hail
fell at Grainola and at Delaware.

Severe thunderstorms moved across eastern Oklahoma during the late
afternoon and evening of July 4th. The storms produced large hail,
damaging winds, and 1 tornado. The tornado touched down briefly at
1602CST near the intersection of 171st Street South and Lewis Avenue
4.5 miles west southwest of Bixby. The tornado heavily damaged 1 barn
and downed trees. The tornado was 30 yards wide, was on the ground for
200 yards, and was rated as an F-0.
Straight-line thunderstorm winds caused heavy damage to several
buildings throughout Cherokee County, and the Venture Drilling Building
in Tahlequah was destroyed by 70 mile an hour winds. Numerous trees and
large tree limbs were also blown down in Tahlequah, and some vehicles
were damaged by fallen trees. Damage in Tahlequah was estimated at
$100,000. A semi truck was blown off the road just west of Wagoner, and
an 80 foot radio tower was blown down by 65 mile an hour winds near
Hulbert. A fireworks stand was blown over by 60 mile an hour winds in
Wagoner, and strong thunderstorm winds just west of Coweta downed a 2
foot diameter tree and 60 feet of fence.
Trees and large tree limbs were blown down on the Tulsa/Wagoner County
line 2.5 miles southeast of Broken Arrow, and nickel size hail also
fell at the same location. A 3 foot diameter oak tree was blown down at
the intersection of 151st Street South and Memorial Drive in the town
of Bixby, and trees were also blown down 2 miles south of Glenpool, 9
miles west of Wilburton, 10 miles south of Wilburton, in Talihina, 5
miles northeast of Bethel, and at Broken Bow Lake. 3 inch diameter tree
limbs were blown down at the intersection of 111th Street South and Elm
Street in Broken Arrow, and numerous large tree limbs were blown down
in Stigler, in McAlester, and at Cherokee Landing State Park 5 miles
north of Cookson.
Thunderstorm winds gusted to 71 miles an hour at an automated observing
site near Talihina and to 70 miles an hour in Salina and in Eucha.
Thunderstorm winds gusted to 60 to 65 miles an hour at several other
locations in eastern Oklahoma. Golfball size hail fell at Mason, half
dollar size hail fell at Okmulgee, and quarter size hail fell 1.5 miles
south of Mounds, at Glenpool, 2 miles south of Glenpool, and at Kiefer.
Dime to nickel size hail fell at numerous other locations in eastern
Oklahoma. The thunderstorms also produced very heavy rainfall in
Cherokee County which resulted in street flooding in Hulbert.

An isolated severe thunderstorm moved south from Kansas into Osage
County during the evening of July 8th. The storm produced 60 mile an
hour winds at Burbank, where a few large tree limbs were blown down.
The storm then weakened as it moved south into Pawnee County, but a dry
microburst occurred at Westport. Winds estimated at greater than 100
miles an hour resulted in severe damage at the Westport Marina. A large
boat dock, with 43 people on the dock, was lifted over 50 feet in the
air. There was 1 minor injury to a person on the dock, and 20 boats
that were tied to the dock were damaged. Damage at the Westport Marina
was estimated at around 2 million dollars.
Another dry microburst occurred to the east of the main storm in
Washington County. Winds gusted to 62 miles an hour in Dewey, where a
mobile home was blown off its foundation and windows were blown out of
a few homes and businesses. Windows were also blown out of a van on
U.S. Highway 75 just south of Dewey.

5 miles southwest of Mannford, and several large tree limbs were blown
down by 60 mile an hour winds in Prue and in Bartlesville. Thunderstorm
winds also gusted to 60 miles an hour in Hallett and in the city of
Tulsa.

Severe thunderstorms moved across eastern Oklahoma during the early
morning of July 24th. Thunderstorm winds damaged boat docks and a
mobile home 1 mile east of Texanna. Numerous large trees were also
blown down blocking roads in the same area. A hand-held anemometer
reached its peak speed of 65 miles an hour 1 mile east of Texanna.
Strong thunderstorm winds caused severe roof damage to 1 building in
Webbers Falls, and several trees were blown onto roofs in Webbers
Falls. 6 cars were damaged at the intersection of 48th Street and
Wheeling Avenue in the city of Tulsa when a large tree was blown down,
and a barn roof was partially blown off 1 mile east of Hectorville.
Strong thunderstorm winds blew canopies off trailers in Poteau, and
trees were blown down and roofs were damaged by strong winds in
Ashland. Several trees and power lines were blown down in Burbank and
in Drumright, and trees were blown down 4 miles north of Hulbert and in
Sallisaw. Numerous large tree limbs were blown down in Indianola, and
a large part of a tree was blown down in Broken Arrow. Thunderstorm
winds gusted to 60 to 70 miles an hour in Hallett and to 60 miles an
hour 5 miles west of Okemah, and dime size hail fell 1 mile north of
Muskogee.

Severe thunderstorms moved across eastern Oklahoma during the evening
of July 25th and very early morning of July 26th. 1 injury occurred in
Drumright when strong winds blew a woman off the roof of her home.
Numerous trees were also blown down in Drumright. Thunderstorm winds
gusting to 80 miles an hour downed telephone poles 7 miles north of
Nowata, and a power pole was snapped and lines were downed by strong
winds 4 miles east of Bartlesville. Strong thunderstorm winds partially
downed a power pole in Henryetta, and large tree limbs were also blown
down in Henryetta.
Trees and power lines were blown down in Bristow and in Valliant, and
trees and signs were blown down by 75 mile an hour winds in Welch.
Power lines were blown down 2 miles south of Adair and in Braggs, and
70 mile an hour winds blew lines down in Commerce. 60 mile an hour
winds blew down power lines in Jay and in Wilburton. Strong
thunderstorm winds downed large trees 12 miles west of Hominy, and a
tree and several large tree limbs were blown down in White Oak. Trees
were blown down in Kansas, near Moodys, in Beggs, in Shamrock, and in
Bristow, and several trees were blown across power lines in Wright
City. 80 mile an hour winds blew down trees in Tahlequah, and trees
were blown down by 60 mile an hour winds in Stilwell.
Large tree limbs were blown down in Ralston, in Proctor, 5 miles
northwest of Adair, in Vinita, in Webbers Falls, and 5 miles west of
Stigler. 60 mile an hour winds also blew down large tree limbs 2 miles
east of Gore. Thunderstorm winds gusted to 80 miles an hour 8 miles
west of Pawhuska and 12 miles east of Hallett and to 70 miles an hour
7 miles north of Eufaula. Thunderstorm winds gusted to 60 to 70 miles
an hour at the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Tulsa and to
65 miles an hour 10 miles northeast of Nowata. Thunderstorm winds
gusted to 60 miles an hour at numerous other locations in eastern
Oklahoma. Quarter size hail fell 12 miles east of Hallett and at
Drumright, and dime to nickel size hail fell at numerous other
locations in eastern Oklahoma.

Severe thunderstorms redeveloped in eastern Oklahoma during the morning
of July 26th. Thunderstorm winds gusted to 60 miles an hour 2 miles
west of Canadian, and large tree limbs were blown down by strong winds
4 miles northwest of Hollow. Golfball size hail fell 2 miles west of
Hollow and 3 miles southwest of Strang, and half dollar size hail fell
at Strang. Quarter size hail fell at Nowata and at Adair, and dime to
nickel size hail fell at several other locations in northeast Oklahoma.

Severe thunderstorms moved across northwest Arkansas during the evening
of July 4th. Strong thunderstorm winds flipped an airplane at the
Springdale Airport near Springdale, and widespread trees and power
lines were blown down throughout Benton and Carroll Counties.
Thunderstorm winds downed power lines and several large trees 2 miles
north of Siloam Springs, and numerous trees and power lines were blown
down in Bentonville. Power lines were blown down in Urbanette and in
Oak Grove, and a tree was blown down and camper shells were blown onto
a highway in Lowell.
A tree was blown down onto a house by 70 mile an hour winds 2 miles
south of Siloam Springs, and trees were also blown down just west of
Springdale, in Hindsville, in Berryville, in Green Forest, 2 miles
southwest of Winslow, and in Pettigrew. Large tree limbs were blown
down in West Fork and in Greenwood, and thunderstorm winds gusted to 60
miles an hour in Siloam Springs and 6 miles north of Eureka Springs.
Quarter size hail fell 2 miles north of Siloam Springs, and dime size
hail fell at Van Buren and at Fort Smith.

morning of July 24th. Strong thunderstorm winds downed trees at Devils
Den State Park 6 miles southeast of Strickler, and several utility
lines were blown down by strong winds in Lavaca.

Severe thunderstorms moved across northwest Arkansas during the evening
of July 25th and very early morning of July 26th. Strong thunderstorm
winds blew the roofs off turkey houses in Pettigrew, and trees and
power lines were blown down in Sulphur Springs. Power lines were blown
down in Kingston and in Wesley, and trees were blown down 6 miles north
of Eureka Springs, in Siloam Springs, 5 miles west of West Fork, in Van
Buren, in Barling, and 2 miles north of Combs. Trees were blown down by
70 mile an hour winds in Bentonville, and strong thunderstorm winds
downed several large tree limbs in Lowell. Thunderstorm winds gusted to
70 miles an hour in Hiwasse and to 60 miles an hour in Springdale and
in Winslow.
