URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND/ODESSA TX
519 AM CST THU DEC 8 2016

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT THIS MORNING FOR THE
GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS...UPPER TRANS PECOS...DAVIS MOUNTAINS AND THE
CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PERMIAN BASIN...

.PRECIPITATION CONTINUES TO INCREASE ACROSS THE AREA AS COLD AIR
DEEPENS BEHIND A STRONG COLD FRONT. LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW IS
FALLING AND ACCUMULATING ALONG AND NORTH OF THE I-20 CORRIDOR.
RAIN WILL CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN AND THEN SNOW LATER THIS MORNING
ACROSS THE TRANS PECOS INTO THE DAVIS MOUNTAINS. AN INCH OR TWO OF
SNOW MAY ACCUMULATE ON GRASSY AND ELEVATED SURFACES ACROSS THE
GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS, UPPER TRANS PECOS, AND THE PERMIAN BASIN.
A THIN LAYER OF ICE ALONG WITH UP TO AN INCH OF SNOW CAN BE
EXPECTED ALONG THE I-10 CORRIDOR. BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES MAY
BECOME SLICK AS TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO FALL BELOW FREEZING.
AREAS NEAR THE I10/I20 SPLIT WILL BE OF MOST CONCERN AS WE HAVE
SEEN MANY ISSUES THERE IN THE PAST. PRECIPITATION WILL END FROM
WEST TO EAST AROUND NOON TODAY.
