...WINTER RETURNS TO WEST TEXAS AND SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO TONIGHT
AND TUESDAY...

AFTER ANOTHER DRY AND MILD AFTERNOON WITH TEMPERATURES INTO THE
60S TO LOWER 70S...A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE SOUTH INTO THE
AREA TONIGHT.

RAIN SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP THIS EVENING MAINLY NORTH AND EAST OF
THE PECOS RIVER. THE THREAT OF SHOWERS WILL SPREAD SOUTH THROUGH
THE TRANS PECOS OVERNIGHT. MUCH COLDER AIR WILL SPREAD SOUTH
OVERNIGHT AS WELL. RAIN SHOWERS WILL MIX WITH SNOW AFTER MIDNIGHT
IN THE NORTHERN PERMIAN BASIN AND SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO. DUE TO THE
RECENT MILD TEMPERATURES NO SNOW ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED ON AREA
ROADWAYS. HOWEVER...THERE COULD BE A DUSTING OF SNOW ON GRASSY
SURFACES AND OVERPASSES IN NORTHERN LEA COUNTY WHERE THERE IS THE
BEST CHANCE OF SNOW. AS COLDER AIR FILTERS SOUTH THERE COULD BE A
MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS TUESDAY MORNING ALONG AND NORTH OF A
MIDLAND TO WINK LINE. THERE COULD ALSO BE A FEW SNOW SHOWERS IN
THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE DAVIS MOUNTAINS TUESDAY MORNING. HIGH
TEMPERATURES ON TUESDAY WILL ONLY BE IN THE 40S.

TUESDAY NIGHT WILL BE COLDER WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE 20S...WITH
TEENS IN THE DAVIS MOUNTAINS AND MARFA PLATEAU. HIGH TEMPERATURES
ON WEDNESDAY WILL BE MAINLY IN THE 50S. DRY WEATHER WITH WARMER
TEMPERATURES ARE IN STORE FOR WEST TEXAS AND SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO
ON CHRISTMAS DAY.
