...ARCTIC AIR TO INVADE THE REGION WEDNESDAY NIGHT WITH WINTRY
PRECIPITATION POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING...

A BLAST OF ARCTIC AIR WILL SEND TEMPERATURES PLUNGING LATE WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON NORTH OF INTERSTATE 20, AND OVER THE REST OF THE FORECAST
AREA WEDNESDAY NIGHT. STIFF NORTHERLY WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL
DROP WIND CHILLS INTO THE TEENS AND 20S BEHIND THE FRONT. BY
THURSDAY MORNING, LOW TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM THE UPPER
TEENS IN NORTHERN LEA COUNTY, TO AROUND 30 NEAR FORT STOCKTON AND
NEAR 40 ALONG THE RIO GRANDE.

AS COLD, NORTHEAST UPSLOPE WINDS PUSH INTO THE TRANS PECOS AFTER
MIDNIGHT, AN UPPER AIR DISTURBANCE WILL APPROACH AND COULD RESULT IN
A WINTRY MIX OF FREEZING RAIN, SLEET AND SNOW ALONG THE INTERSTATE
10 CORRIDOR. AREAS POSSIBLE AFFECTED INCLUDE, SOUTHERN CULBERSON,
JEFF DAVIS, NORTHERN BREWSTER, SOUTHERN REEVES AND PECOS COUNTIES.
DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS COULD EXIST IN THESE AREAS THURSDAY
MORNING, IF NOT THURSDAY AFTERNOON AS HIGH TEMPERATURES MAY STAY IN
THE 30S, EXCEPT ALONG THE RIO GRANDE. FRIDAY MORNING WILL BE EVEN
COLDER, SO PREPARE YOUR PLANTS, PIPES, PETS AND VEHICLES FOR THE
COLD WEATHER. KEEP ABREAST OF THE LATEST WEATHER FORECAST AND
INFORMATION FOR POSSIBLE CHANGES.

...ACCUMULATING SNOW IS POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS OF THE BIG BEND
LATE SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY MORNING...

...MUCH COLDER WEATHER IS HEADED FOR WEST TEXAS AND SOUTHEAST NEW
MEXICO WITH THE ARRIVAL OF AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON...

AN UPPER LOW WILL MOVE NEAR THE BIG BEND REGION TONIGHT AND MONDAY
MORNING RESULTING IN COLDER MOUNTAIN TEMPERATURES. IN ADDITION
THERE IS LIFT AND SUFFICIENT MOISTURE FOR PRECIPITATION TO FORM
ACROSS MUCH OF THE TRANS PECOS. EVEN THOUGH MOST PRECIPITATION
WILL BE IN THE FORM OF RAIN THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR SNOW IN THE
DAVIS...CHINATI...GLASS...AND CHISOS MOUNTAINS. SNOW LEVELS WILL
BE MOSTLY BE AROUND 6500 FT. THE CHISOS MOUNTAINS HAVE THE BEST
CHANCE FOR ACCUMULATING SNOW WITH ONE TO TWO INCHES POSSIBLE.
ELSEWHERE ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE LESS THAN ONE INCH. THE
GROUND IS STILL WARM AND WET AND WILL TEND TO INHIBIT ACCUMULATIONS.
LATER TODAY FORECASTERS WILL RE-ASSESS THE POTENTIAL FOR ACCUMULATING
SNOW.

EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN COLD THE LAST FEW DAYS MUCH COLDER WEATHER
IS IN THE OFFING. AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL MOVE INTO THE PERMIAN
BASIN NORTH OF INTERSTATE 20 WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND THROUGH THE
REMAINDER OF THE AREA WEDNESDAY NIGHT. ARCTIC COLD FRONTS FREQUENTLY
ARRIVE EARLIER THAN LATER AND IF THIS IS THE CASE AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES
WILL FALL ACROSS THE NORTHERN PERMIAN BASIN. BY THURSDAY MORNING
LOWS WILL RANGE FROM THE UPPER TEENS IN NORTHERN LEA COUNTY TO THE
UPPER 20S AROUND FT STOCKTON. ON THURSDAY HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE
NOT FORECAST TO CLIMB OUT THE 30S IN MOST AREAS...EXCEPT ALONG THE
RIO GRANDE. FRIDAY MORNING WILL BE EVEN COLDER THAN THURSDAY
MORNING. PREPARE YOUR PLANTS...PIPES...AND PETS FOR THE COLD
WEATHER.
