BASIN...UPPER TRANS PECOS AND SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO PLAINS...

.THE SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL TIGHTEN OVER THE REGION THIS
AFTERNOON WITH SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS INCREASING TO 25 TO 35 MPH
SUSTAINED OVER THE PERMIAN BASIN. THESE STRONGER SURFACE WINDS
WILL SPREAD INTO THE UPPER TRANS PECOS AND SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO
THIS EVENING, ESPECIALLY AS A LOW LEVEL JET INCREASES OVER THE
AREA. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH LATE THIS EVENING.

  GUADALUPE PASS.

* IMPACTS...WINDS WILL BE PARTICULARLY HAZARDOUS AT HIGHER
  ELEVATIONS AND THROUGH GUADLUPE PASS WHERE THE STRONGEST WINDS
  ARE LIKELY TO OCCUR. ABRUPT CHANGES IN WIND FORCES OCCUR WHEN
  ROUNDING SHARP TURNS OR PASSING OBSTACLES TO THE WIND RESULTING
  IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED
OR OCCURRING. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH OR GUSTS
OF 58 MPH OR MORE CAN LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE.

TURBULENCE CAN BE EXPECTED NEAR THE MOUNTAINS AND LIGHT LOW FLYING
AIRCRAFT SHOULD AVOID FLYING ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS TODAY.
