Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
222 PM CDT Tue May 23 2017

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
THURSDAY EVENING FOR GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS FOR RH BELOW 10 PERCENT...
WINDS ABOVE 20 MPH AND VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER....

.DISCUSSION...
Warmer and drier weather on Wednesday will give way to hot, very dry
and at times windy conditions. Critical fire weather is likely
across the Guadalupe Mountains and possible across Southeast New
Mexico. A fire watch is in effect for the Guadalupe Mountains for
Thursday and may extend into Saturday. For now recent rain across
Southeast New Mexico have lessened concerns, but this could change. A
cold front on Sunday will lessen concerns.

Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
254 AM CDT Tue May 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...

A cold front will push through the area today, accompanied by
additional showers/thunderstorms and gusty north to northeast winds.
Much below normal temperatures and RHs 25-55% will preclude fire
weather concerns today. A significant warming/drying trend begins
Wednesday, with well above normal temperatures areawide expected by
Thursday-Saturday. RHs under 15% are expected across the west on
Wednesday, areawide Thursday-Saturday, and increasing west winds
across the Guadalupe Mountains could result in critical fire weather
conditions there by late this week.

Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
203 PM CDT Sun May 21 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Fire weather concerns look to remain low through at least midweek.
Cooler temperatures today thanks to increased clouds and rain activity
across the area. A bit of drying expected Monday however temperatures
will remain fairly cool with rain chances persisting, so critical min
RHs are not expected. A cold front early Tuesday will shift winds to
the north and keep rain chances in play. A significant warming and drying
trend is expected Wednesday and Thursday however winds look to behave.
