FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST TEXAS/SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND/ODESSA TX
441 AM CDT FRI AUG 22 2014

.DISCUSSION...

MINIMUM RH/S WILL REMAIN ABOVE 15 PERCENT EACH AFTERNOON THROUGH
SUNDAY, WHILE SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED MAINLY WEST OF
THE PECOS RIVER. MORE ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED AS FAR
EAST AS THE PERMIAN BASIN. DESPITE SEASONALLY HOT TEMPERATURES,
FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS WILL BE ON THE LOW SIDE, ESPECIALLY SINCE
SOME GREEN UP LATELY WILL LIKELY PREVENT MANY NEW FIRE STARTS FROM
LIGHTNING STRIKES. SOUTH TO SOUTHEASTERLY 20 FOOT WINDS WILL
PREVAIL, WITH THE HIGHEST WIND SPEEDS DURING THE AFTERNOON AND
EVENING TOPPING OUT IN THE 15 TO 20 MPH RANGE.
