Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
407 AM CDT Wed Mar 29 2017

.DISCUSSION...
A cold front will lessen the fire weather threat today for most areas
except the Big Bend and lower Trans Pecos which could see low end
critical fire weather conditions. Warmer and drier conditions are
expected Thursday and Friday but wind speeds will be too low for Red
Flag conditions except perhaps in Eddy County and the Guadalupe
Mountains. Overnight recovery will be fair to good tonight, and poor
to fair tomorrow night.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 PM CDT
THIS EVENING FOR WARM, WINDY AND DRY CONDITIONS ALONG AND WEST OF
A SEMINOLE TO FORT STOCKTON LINE ...

.DISCUSSION...

A Red Flag Warning has been issued as windy, warm and dry conditions

Mountains, so they have not been included in the warning. There
could be isolated lightning strikes over the warning area, along
with enhanced local wind gusts too. Recovery will be poor tonight
as 20 foot winds remain from the west, followed by possible critical
conditions over the big Bend region, Stockton Plateau and Lower
Trans Pecos Wednesday afternoon. RHs will stay above 15 percent
over the rest of the forecast area. After a brief break Thursday,
well above normal temperatures and windy conditions are expected
Friday, along with critical fire weather conditions.

Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
404 AM CDT Mon Mar 27 2017

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
TUESDAY EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

A cold front will push southwest to the Pecos River before stalling
this morning, but minimum RHs will still drop to 10-15 percent
areawide this afternoon as temperatures warm to 5-10 degrees above
normal. Southwest winds over portions of the Guadalupe Mountains
and SE NM Plains will be 15-25 mph sustained this afternoon, and
since isolated critical conditions could occur in the Guadalupes,
will issue a Fire Danger Statement for these areas. After poor
recovery west, good recovery east tonight, fire weather concerns
will increase Tuesday as an upper storm system approaches. Will
issue a Fire Weather Watch for locations along and west of a
Seminole to Fort Stockton line. More critical fire weather could
occur Wednesday, but mainly over southwest Texas.

Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
932 PM CDT Sun Mar 26 2017

.DISCUSSION...

The Red Flag Warning that was in effect this evening has been
cancelled as winds have dropped below critical levels, and RHs have
begun to improve. Recovery tonight will be poor for locations west
of the Pecos River, and fair elsewhere. While RHs Monday will drop
below 15% for all but the northern Permian Basin, winds will remain
under 20 mph, thus critical fire weather conditions are not expected.
Winds will increase Tuesday as a strong dryline develops, with
increasing fire weather concerns across the west, and the potential
for thunderstorms across the east.
