Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
932 PM CDT Sun Mar 26 2017

.DISCUSSION...

The Red Flag Warning that was in effect this evening has been
cancelled as winds have dropped below critical levels, and RHs have
begun to improve. Recovery tonight will be poor for locations west
of the Pecos River, and fair elsewhere. While RHs Monday will drop
below 15% for all but the northern Permian Basin, winds will remain
under 20 mph, thus critical fire weather conditions are not expected.
Winds will increase Tuesday as a strong dryline develops, with
increasing fire weather concerns across the west, and the potential
for thunderstorms across the east.

Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
130 PM CDT Fri Mar 24 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH 9 PM CDT /8 PM MDT/ THIS
EVENING FOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 15% OR LESS, 20 FOOT WINDS OF 20 MPH
OR MORE, AND HIGH TO EXTREME FIRE DANGER FOR THE GUADALUPE, DAVIS,
AND APACHE MOUNTAINS, SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO PLAINS, PORTIONS OF THE
WESTERN LOW ROLLING PLAINS AND PERMIAN BASIN, VAN HORN AND THE
HIGHWAY 54 CORRIDOR, REEVES COUNTY AND THE UPPER TRANS PECOS, AND
PECOS, PRESIDIO, BREWSTER, AND TERRELL COUNTIES...

.DISCUSSION...
Cooler temperatures have meant that critical fire weather conditions
have been slow to develop, but given the very windy conditions across
the area will keep the Red Flag Warning going into this evening. A
cold front will shift current west winds from the northwest this
afternoon which will then decrease after sunset. The cooler
temperatures will allow for fair to good recovery tonight and an
easing of the fire weather threat tomorrow before increasing winds
elevate the threat again on Sunday.
