FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST TEXAS/SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND/ODESSA TX
223 PM CDT WED APR 23 2014

...A RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE GUADALUPE
MOUNTAINS AND SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO PLAINS FROM THIS AFTERNOON UNTIL
9 PM MDT FOR 20 FOOT WINDS OF 20 MPH OR MORE...RH OF 5 TO 15
PERCENT AND HIGH FIRE DANGER...

.DISCUSSION...
A DRYLINE PUSHING EAST ACROSS THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON WILL LEAVE VERY
DRY AIR BEHIND IT. SLIGHT CHANCE OF STORMS THIS EVENING ALONG THE
DRYLINE. WARM... DRY... AND WINDY CONDITIONS WILL CREATE RED FLAG
CONDITIONS THROUGH EARLY EVENING ACROSS SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO AND
THE GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS. MINIMUM RH BEHIND THE DRYLINE WILL BE
BELOW 15 PERCENT BUT RH RECOVERY TONIGHT WILL BE GOOD FOR MOST OF
THE AREA. A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY BRINGING
SLIGHTLY COOLER TEMPERATURES TO THE REGION. COULD SEE NEAR
CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FRIDAY ACROSS THE GUADALUPE
MOUNTAINS BUT THE NEXT SIGNIFICANT FIRE WEATHER DAY WILL BE SATURDAY
WHEN A STRONG SURFACE TROUGH BRINGS UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES
AND VERY DRY AIR TO THE REGION.
