Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
216 PM CST Wed Feb 22 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING TODAY FOR WARM, DRY, WINDY AND HIGH FIRE DANGER FOR
THE GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS...

...RED FLAG WARNING THURSDAY FOR WARM, DRY, AND VERY WINDY CONDITIONS
ACROSS SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO AND MUCH OF WEST TEXAS...

.DISCUSSION...
High end fire weather concerns are expected Thursday across much of the area,
especially across southeast New Mexico and the northern Permian Basin. The
pattern for Thursday is of particular concern as the multiple occurence of
large fires have occured on similar days. Fire danger ratings of very high
to extreme are expected. Fuels have been drying out, especially in the 1hr
and 10hr fuels and are readily available to burn. Red flag warnings are already
in effect. More critical fire weather is expected Friday, and possibly Sunday
and Tuesday.
