FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST TEXAS/SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND/ODESSA TX
402 AM CDT FRI APR 24 2015

.DISCUSSION...

WESTERLY WINDS WILL RISE TO 20 TO 35 MPH SUSTAINED OVER MUCH OF THE
AREA, WITH HIGHER SPEEDS IN THE GUADALUPE MTNS WHERE A HIGH WIND
WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED. EVEN THOUGH RH/S WILL DROP TO 10 TO 15
PERCENT OVER PORTIONS OF THE SE NM PLAINS, VAN HORN AREA, UPPER
TRANS PECOS AND WESTERN PERMIAN BASIN, RECENT RAINFALL, GREEN UP OF
FOLIAGE AND NEAR NORMAL HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL PRECLUDE THE ISSUANCE
OF A RED FLAG WARNING. HOWEVER, A FIRE DANGER STATEMENT WILL BE IN
EFFECT FOR LOCATIONS ALONG AND WEST OF A LAMESA TO KERMIT TO ALPINE
LINE. RECOVERY TONIGHT WILL BE FAIR TO GOOD. MORE BREEZY TO WINDY
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. FOR THE SAME REASONS
AS ABOVE, A RED FLAG WARNING DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE WARRANTED EITHER
AFTERNOON/EVENING.
