Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
Nantional Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
542 AM CDT Wed Mar 22 2017

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
THURSDAY EVENING FOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 15% OR LESS, 20 FOOT
WINDS OF 20 MPH OR MORE, AND HIGH TO VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER FOR THE
GUADALUPE, DAVIS, AND APACHE MOUNTAINS, SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO
PLAINS, VAN HORN AND THE HIGHWAY 54 CORRIDOR...REEVES COUNTY AND
THE UPPER TRANS PECOS, AND LOVING AND PRESIDIO COUNTIES...

.DISCUSSION...

A weak cold front will result in temperatures slightly cooler than
yesterday, yet still well-above normal. An upper level storm
system will pass through the region Thursday. Unseasonably warm
temperatures and strong southwest winds associated with the system
will result in very low relative humidity west of a sharpening
dryline near the Pecos River. Critical fire weather conditions are
expected Thursday afternoon and evening west of the dryline.
Similar conditions are anticipated Friday, only more widespread.
Sunday, another critical fire weather day will be possible in the
Guadalupes. Otherwise, RH will bottom out at 10-30% this afternoon,
and 10-40% Thursday. RH recovery overnight will be poor in the
Guadalupes, but moderate to excellent elsewhere.
