DISCUSSION...

The relentless upper ridge will bring the hottest temperatures yet
to the area over the next several days. The ridge will shift
overhead and suppress most clouds and precip into next week. High
temperatures today through Saturday will near records for early
August. These temperatures will also bring us near heat advisory
criteria across the area. Precautions should be taken as the hot
conditions begin to wear on the body. Will issue an SPS to
highlight the near advisory conditions and what can be done to
keep cool. The upper ridge will go nowhere fast as it wobbles over
the S. Plains into mid August. Temperatures may cool a few degrees
next week, but should remain above normal.

Outside of a couple thunderstorms this afternoon near the Davis
Mountains the region should remain dry through the end of the week.
Early next week models show the upper ridge moving far enough east
to allow some monsoonal moisture to invade the higher terrain.
Will keep PoPs out of the forecast for now until confidence in
this scenario increases.
