AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND/ODESSA TX
307 PM CDT Sat May 30 2015

.DISCUSSION...

The cold front has made its way to the Rio Grand leaving cooler
temperatures in its wake. It also brought a line of storms through
the morning hours and with no rain in the forecast for tomorrow at
MAF, that makes 13 days with rain this month. We will get a break
from the wet pattern we have been under with an upper ridge that
will move east over the area. This will result in increasing
temperatures and decreasing rain chances for the next few days.

We could see some storms in the south tonight and Sunday.
Otherwise, rain will be fewer by the day. The wind behind the front
has come around to the east this afternoon but this will veer back
around to the south by tomorrow which will aid warm up. There will
be a gradual warm up through mid week with temperatures climbing
back into the low 90s by Monday and into the mid 90s by mid week.

By Tuesday with the ridge over us, a surface trough will form and
provide a little bit of support for scattered thunderstorms to form
along the mountains with southeast winds pushing moisture into the
area. Looking a week ahead, we could see the ridge start move out
of the area and another low pressure system make its way across
southern California and east towards us, which could again bring
rain back into the forecast.
