.AVIATION...

Areas of low ceilings and visibility will continue through the
overnight period and into Monday morning. Fog is possible around or
before 12z across areas which clear out but do not expect widespread
fog. Ceilings are expected to lift around 18z. Winds will
generally remain light out of the south to southeast. Stronger
winds are possible for MAF and FST Monday afternoon.

PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 242 PM CDT Sun Sep 7 2014/

DISCUSSION...
Scattered light and moderate rain showers continue this afternoon
across the entire area, but expect most new development to occur
in the lower Trans Pecos and Big Bend where clouds are scattering
out and heating is able to create greater instability. Convection
will diminish overnight then westerlies will return bringing drier
air and warmer conditions through the middle of next week.
Temperatures will make a short run up to well above normal before
an upper low moving along the northern U.S. border brings another
cold front into west Texas and southeastern New Mexico. Models
continue to be inconsistent with each other with the Canadian the
fastest with the front and the ECMWF the slowest. Still prefer the
slower GFS/ECMWF frontal timing with a weak wind shift perhaps
Thursday morning bringing slight cooling, then a stronger push
Thursday night with CAA, clouds, and precip really keeping Friday
much cooler. Surface ridging will keep the cool air in place
Saturday, before the ridge moves east and return flow brings
warmer air next Sunday.
