DISCUSSION...
Upper ridge centered near ELP today stretches northward up to the
Great Lakes region. The ridge will grow Saturday with the center of
it drifting up to CO on Sunday as it becomes situated more west to
east. Ridge wobbles around becoming centered over the Rockies again
by next weekend.

Unseasonably high temperatures will be the main story. A Heat
Advisory remains in effect for much of the area this afternoon into
early evening. This includes the Pecos and Rio Grande valleys and
portions of the Permian Basin. Temperatures will be slow to cool
this evening from afternoon highs. Expect a continuation of hot
temperatures for the region on Saturday but below advisory
criteria. By Sunday into Monday more normal temperatures should
return.

There is a wide range in the amount of low level moisture with
dewpts ranging from the lower 20s in SE NM to the lower 70s over the
eastern Permian Basin. Not surprising then temps at 19z were
already at or over 100 degrees for the west.

There is a little bit of CU this afternoon around and south of
MRF/E38 but not expecting it to develop into showers or storms. Very
little expected in the way of precip for the coming week.
