PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 210 PM CST Sun Jan 18 2015/

Quiet weather will continue into midweek before another storm
system and cold front bring active weather back to the region.

Temperatures have warmed nicely across the area this afternoon with
readings in the 60`s areawide. Northwest mid level flow today will
continue through Tuesday as upper ridging centered to our west stays
in place. West to northwest, downsloping sfc winds Monday will lead
to much above normal temperatures. Highs are expected to climb
mostly into the 70s under sunny skies so get out and enjoy!

By Tuesday, a shortwave will round a large trough over the Great
Lakes and send a cold front south into the region. Temperatures
should warm above normal again Tuesday for most of us as frontal
passage is not expected until about midday. The end of the week
looks much cooler behind this front with another reinforcing front
expected Thursday.

The cooler temperatures will be helped by cloud cover and
precipitation as an upper trough develops to our west by midweek.
Will need to monitor the system as there looks to be enough cold air
to change some of the rain over to snow. The GFS is more bullish
with precipitation and cold air so it gives most of the region north
of I-20 several inches of snow. The ECMWF has quite a bit less
precip and the system is still several days out so will keep
rain/snow in the grids, but up the PoPs.

Temperatures warm a bit by next weekend before another cold front
moves through early next week.
