FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS REGION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX
431 AM CST WED JAN 28 2015

.DISCUSSION...
A FEW HOURS OF ELEVATED FIRE DANGER ARE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON
ACROSS THE NORTHEAST FIRE ZONES WHERE WEST WINDS OF 15 MPH AT
THE 20-FOOT LEVEL WILL OVERLAP WITH HUMIDITIES AROUND 20 PERCENT.
COMPARED TO REMAINING AREAS...DORMANT FUELS IN THE FLOYDADA TO
CHILDRESS TO QUITAQUE AREA HAVE LESS MOISTURE TO WICK FROM THE
GROUND AS LAST WEEK/S PRECIP HERE WAS GENERALLY THE LIGHTEST.
WE WILL FOREGO A RANGELAND FIRE DANGER STATEMENT AS EVEN THESE
ELEVATED CONDITIONS APPEAR TOO BRIEF BEFORE A DRY COLD FRONT
WITH LIGHT NORTH WINDS ARRIVES THIS EVENING.

SOAKING RAINS ARE LIKELY REGION-WIDE FROM LATE FRIDAY THROUGH
EARLY SATURDAY WITH SOME ACCUMULATING SNOW IN AND NEAR PARMER
COUNTY.
