FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS REGION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX
604 AM CDT TUE MAR 31 2015

.DISCUSSION...
WINDS WILL BE ON THE LIGHT SIDE TODAY AS A WEAK SURFACE LOW
RESIDES IN THE AREA. TEMPERATURES WILL PEAK WELL INTO THE
80S...WHICH WILL DRIVE RH VALUES DOWN INTO TEENS AND 20S. ISOLATED
TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON
AND EVENING. A FEW OF THESE STORMS COULD BE STRONG OFF THE
CAPROCK AND PRODUCE LOCALIZED WETTING RAIN. FURTHER WEST IN THE
DRIER AIR...GUSTY AND ERRATIC WINDS AND DRY LIGHTNING WILL BE
POSSIBLE WITH ANY HIGH-BASED STORMS THAT DEVELOP. SOUTH TO
SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE ON WEDNESDAY AS A DRYLINE SETS UP
NEAR THE EDGE OF THE CAPROCK. WEST OF THE DRYLINE ELEVATED TO
BRIEFLY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER WILL BE POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON. THE HEIGHTENED FIRE DANGER WILL EXPAND TO ENCOMPASS
MOST OF THE AREA ON THURSDAY BEFORE A COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH
EARLY FRIDAY AND PROVIDES A TEMPORARY REPRIEVE.
