.DISCUSSION...
A FAIRLY STRONG WINTER STORM IS FORECAST TO MOVE INTO THE AREA BY
TONIGHT. AN UPPER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL DIG SOUTHWARD INTO
ARIZONA LATE THIS MORNING AND THEN INTO NORTHWEST MEXICO SATURDAY
MORNING. IN ADDITION, A COLD FRONT FROM THE NORTH WILL MOVE INTO
OUR AREA ALSO THIS EVENING. SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP LATE THIS
AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO SUNDAY. SNOW LEVELS WILL START OUT
THIS AFTERNOON AROUND 8000 FEET AND THEN DROP TO 5500 FEET
TONIGHT. MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW IS EXPECTED OVER THE SACRAMENTO
MOUNTAINS AND BLACK RANGE. LIGHT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE EVEN POSSIBLE
OVER THE HIGHER LOWLAND AREAS SUCH AS SIERRA COUNTY AND THE
UPLANDS OF HIDALGO COUNTY. THIS SYSTEM WILL MOVE OFF INTO WEST
TEXAS SUNDAY NIGHT.
