.DISCUSSION...

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY UNTIL 9 PM MDT FOR ALL AREAS
EXCEPT THE SACRAMENTO MOUNTAINS...

Strong west winds have returned to the Borderland and will stay
elevated through Saturday. Relative humidities today remain in the
10-15 percent range so previously issued Red Flag Warning for all
lowland areas and the Gila region will stand. RH`s in the Sacs
continue to be just above critical conditions. Tomorrow moisture
levels will increase area wide keeping just the lowlands in
critical conditions for hour or two during the afternoon. On
Saturday winds will continue, moisture levels will increase
further but temperatures will be much cooler due to the passage of
a cold front. Both Friday and Saturday showers and a possible
thunderstorm could occur mainly over the mountain zones. Some
light snow is not out of the question either, for higher mountain
zones. Temperatures will rebound back for early next week with
daily breezy and dry conditions.

FRIDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
Relative humidities today will be falling into the 10-15 percent
range as afternoon winds increase thus a Red Flag Warning is in
effect for all lowland areas and the Gila region. RH`s in the
Sacs look to remain just outside of critical conditions. Starting
tomorrow moisture begins to increases area wide. This should keep
critical conditions to just an hour or two in the lowlands
tomorrow. Similar conditions will occur Saturday but temperatures
will be cooler and humidity levels even higher. Both Friday and
Saturday showers with a possible thunderstorm could occur mainly
over the mountain zones. Some light snow is not out of the
question either, for the mountain zones. Temperatures begin to
warm back up early next week with daily afternoon breezes and dry
conditions.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 9 PM MDT THURSDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
Today was the only break in the winds for the week with
increasing west winds starting Thursday and continuing into
Saturday. Relative humidities on Thursday will be falling into the
10-15 percent range so will go ahead an issue a Red Flag Warning
for all lowland areas and the Gila region. RH`s in the Sacs look
to be just high enough to remain out of critical conditions. There
will be an increase in moisture across region Friday which should
keep critical conditions to just an hour or two in the lowlands.
Similar conditions Saturday but temperatures will be cooler and
humidity levels even higher as some showers move across area.
Temperatures rebound back for early next week with daily breezy
and dry conditions.

Fire Weather Planning Forecast for New Mexico and Far West Texas
National Weather Service El Paso TX/Santa Teresa NM
640 AM MDT Wed Apr 26 2017

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
THURSDAY EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...
Breezy to windy conditions will continue through the next 5-7 days
with the strongest winds coming on Thursday and Friday. Critical
fire conditions could be met Thursday, but higher min RH`s on
Friday means Red Flag conditions may fall just short.

An upper low will be moving across the Rockies Friday night and
Saturday which could bring some showers and a few thunderstorms to
the mountain zones. Some light snow is possible, mainly above 8000
ft. Dry northwest flow will redevelop behind this system with
temperatures rebounding early next week. While breezy conditions
will continue, winds look to remain just below critical speeds.

Fire Weather Planning Forecast for New Mexico and Far West Texas
National Weather Service El Paso TX/Santa Teresa NM
207 PM MDT Tue Apr 25 2017

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
THURSDAY EVENING...
...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...
Breezy to windy conditions will continue through the next 5-7
days with the strongest winds coming on Friday but relative
humidities will be marginal this day for critical conditions. An
upper low will be moving across the Rockies Friday night and
Saturday which will bring precipitation to the region and possibly
snow in the Sacramento mountains. There is a good chance for
critical conditions developing on Thursday however. A Fire Weather
Watch is in effect for Thursday afternoon and evening. Dry
northwest flow will redevelop behind this system with temperatures
rebounding early next week. While breezy conditions will
continue, winds look to remain just below critical speeds.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...
A deep low pressure system with a cold front will move across
west Texas and New Mexico this afternoon and tonight causing very
windy conditions with blowing dust today. Thus Red Flag conditions
will exist this afternoon and early this evening. Lighter winds
and slightly cooler temperatures will occur on Wednesday before
another approaching storm produces windy weather and Red Flag
conditions again Thursday and especially on Friday. A passing cold
front will bring much cooler, below normal temperatures this
coming weekend along with a few rain showers and even chances for
snow over the higher mountains.
