Fire Weather Planning Forecast for New Mexico and Far West Texas
National Weather Service El Paso TX/Santa Teresa NM
203 PM MST Fri Feb 17 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Main fire weather concern for the day will be strong winds
brought by the development of a surface trough in the southern
plains and the approach of an upper level storm system. Wind
speeds will increase through the day between 15 to 25 mph,
especially for the southern and mountainous fire weather zones. By
Saturday night the upper trough will introduce precipitation
chances into the forecast with showers and a few isolated
thunderstorms in the lowlands, and with snow showers above 8000ft
in the mountains. After this dry and calm weather is expected
across the region as a ridge settles in. However, another wind
event is expected towards the end of next week. Max vent rates
should improves the next few days due to the upper low, and mostly
remain in healthy conditions through the period.
