FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS AREA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX
307 PM CST SAT FEB 13 2016

.DISCUSSION...
A SOMEWHAT ELEVATED FIRE DANGER WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE FAR
SOUTHWEST TEXAS PANHANDLE AND WESTERN SOUTH PLAINS THROUGH ABOUT 6
PM THIS EVENING. IN THIS AREA...RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES AROUND 20
PERCENT AND SOUTHWEST BREEZES AROUND 15 TO 20 MPH AT THE 20-FT
LEVEL WILL SUPPORT FIRE GROWTH. OTHERWISE...A SERIES OF WEAK
FRONTS WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA THROUGH TUESDAY. THESE WILL
BRING PERIODIC WIND SHIFTS...HOWEVER WIND SPEEDS WILL REMAIN
RELATIVELY LIGHT AFTER THE FIRST FRONT ON SUNDAY MORNING. FIRE
WEATHER CONCERNS WILL LIKELY INCREASE STARTING WEDNESDAY AS WARM AND
DRY SOUTHWEST FLOW DEVELOPS. THESE CONCERNS MAY PEAK ON THURSDAY
WHEN TEMPERATURES MAY RISE TO ABOUT 20 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. IT
IS STILL TOO EARLY TO TELL IF WIND SPEEDS WILL REACH THE CRITICAL
LEVEL THURSDAY AFTERNOON AS THE CURRENT FORECAST PROJECTS THE STRONGER
WINDS TO BE FOCUSED IN THE TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES.
