Critical Fire Weather conditions are again expected to develop Friday across the Guadalupe Mountains, the Southeast New Mexico Plains, and then extending northeastward. Recent record and near record high temperatures and dry air have brought fuel dryness to Critical and Extremely Critical levels.

Fire Weather Watches are in effect for the Guadalupe Mountains and the Southeast New Mexio Plains Friday. Fire weather concerns will remain high in areas adjacent to the Fire Weather Watch.

Critical to Extremely Critical Fire Weather conditions will expand Saturday in advance of a strong upper low with a favorable position of the surface low.

Fire Weather Watches have already been issued for Saturday for much of the Permian Basin, the Trans Pecos, the Southeast New Mexico Plains, and the Guadalupe and Davis Mountains. Sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph across some of these areas will likely result in Extremley Critical Fire Weather conditions.
