Severe Weather on August 25, 2007 |
 |
| |
 |
Heavy rain spread into northwest Arkansas ahead of a weak
cold front during the morning hours of August 25th. Over an inch of rain
was common in the northwestern counties, with 2.23 inches at
Fayetteville (Washington County) and 1.71 inches at Highfill (Benton
County). Unfortunately, the rain did not go far. |

trace of precipitation. |
| Toward noon CDT, the rain mostly dissipated as it tried to penetrate
into central sections of the state. Dry air was in place (dewpoints
dropped into the upper 50s to mid 60s), which made it difficult to sustain
any precipitation. |

central sections of the state. |

| In the

flare up in southeast Arkansas as of 459 pm CDT. |
|
|
During the afternoon, the front pushed into
southeast Arkansas and encountered a little more moisture. Isolated
thunderstorms bubbled up quickly, with some severe weather. Just
north and east of Monticello (Drew County), damaging straight-line
winds downed trees and power lines.
Overall, the front did little to put a dent in a worsening drought
across the region. However, the front did hold down temperatures in
most areas...especially north and west of Little Rock (Pulaski
County) with afternoon readings in the 80s. This was a break
considering parts of the state were experiencing a near record warm
August. |
