Severe Weather on July 1-6, 2007 (Pg1) |
 |
| |
 |
A cold front sagged southward into Arkansas to begin
July. Near the front, areas of heavy rain were noted across northern and
central sections of the state on the 1st/2nd. |

The pattern on 07/01/2007...with a front sagging southward into Arkansas
from the north with better chances for rain. |
| By late on the 2nd, the front had made it into central
Arkansas...with scattered thunderstorms along and just north of the
front. One to two inch rainfall amounts were common along the
Arkansas River, with locally over 2 inches. |

In the Little Rock (Pulaski
County) area, the rain caused flash flooding...with water over several
roadways and cars stalled. |

| As the front pushed to the south on the 2nd/3rd, lower
dewpoints (drier air) built into northern and eastern Arkansas...with
rain chances decreasing. Scattered thunderstorms continued in the south
and west. |
 |
| In the picture:
Dewpoint temperatures decreased behind a front on
07/02/2007...but remained high (with lots of moisture) farther south and
west. |
| In addition to the front, a pesky area of low pressure
aloft (storm system) was in eastern Texas...and helped enhance
precipitation. The low and the front triggered hit and miss rain on the
4th, mainly south and west of Little Rock (Pulaski County). The front
then washed out. |
