Severe Weather (June 5, 2007) |
 |
| |
 |
While high pressure in the southeast United States was the
dominant weather feature in May, 2007...it flattened out at times in
early June. This allowed a cold front to approach from the northwest on
the 5th. |
| In the picture:
High pressure ("H") was persistent in May, with
low pressure ("L") and stormy weather in the Plains diverted
away from Arkansas to the north and west. |
| Scattered storms were found along the front from the
central Appalachians to northern Arkansas. Storms in Van Buren County
became severe, with penny size hail at Clinton and Alread. |
 |
| In the picture:
A radar/satellite composite showed scattered
thunderstorms in northern Arkansas ahead of a cold front during the
afternoon of 06/05/2007. |
| The high prevented the front from making it into central and southern
sections of the state, with the front eventually forced back to the
north. |
