HIGHLIGHTS
October 1, 1938: Many 100 degree temperatures in the southwest.
October 2, 1894: Tornado at Little Rock with 4 fatalities.
October 4-5, 1949: Dissipating Pacific hurricane moved across
northern Louisiana and dropped upwards of 4 inches of rain on
central and southern sections.
October 11-15, 1963: Very dry weather for several months culminated
in widespread highs in the 90s and many forest fires.
October 18, 1976: Early Arctic outbreak brings a freeze to most of the
state and Gilbert reached 18.
October 20, 1989: Little Rock records its earliest freeze on record.
October 21, 1952: Freeze in most all of the state with teens in the
north.
October 24, 2003: The temperature at Little Rock reached 90 degrees.
This not only broke a record for the date, it was also the latest in
the Fall that the temperature had ever reached the 90 degree mark.
October 27, 1953: Wilson in Mississippi County gets measurable rain
for the first time in 101 days.
October 28-29, 1925: Little Rock records its earliest snowfall ever
and the north has a hard freeze with some areas having highs
below freezing.
October 29, 1942: Tornado at Berryville with 29 fatalities.
October 29-30, 1993: Early Arctic outbreak brings light measurable
snow to northwest half of Arkansas, including Little Rock.
