HIGHLIGHTS
August 3-19, 1954: Peak of summerlong heat wave with widespread
100 degree temperatures each day. Little Rock reaches 100 degrees on
10 straight days (10th-19th) and 16 out of 17.
August 10, 1936: Most stations 110 or warmer, many stations including
Little Rock and Fort Smith have their all time record highs, Ozark
reaches 120 for the highest temperature ever recorded in the
state.
August 13, 1957: Remnants of Tropical Storm Bertha dump 8 to 12 inches
of rain in central and western sections with some flash flooding.
August 18, 1915: Remnants of a tropical storm drops 8 to 11 inches of
rain on northern Arkansas and caused record high river stages on
the Buffalo and White rivers.
August 27, 1980: The last of 30 consecutive 100 degree days at
Booneville.
August 29, 1986: Strong early cold wave drops temperatures into the
40s to lower 50s in most areas.
August 30, 2000: Most reporting stations in Arkansas reached
100 degrees or more, with an all-time record high temperature of
111 degrees at Little Rock.
