HIGHLIGHTS

April 2, 1982: A rash of tornadoes across the state resulted in 
13 fatalities.

April 6, 1960: Gilbert and other valley locations in the north have 
lows below freezing then warm up into the 90s that afternoon.

April 8-9, 1913: Heavy rains cause flooding in many areas, Little Rock 
has its all time record 24 hour (9.58) and calendar day (8.81)
rainfalls.

April 8 and 11, 1979: Hamburg hit twice by tornadoes three days apart.

April 12-13, 1957: Extreme north central and northwest gets 3 to 
4 inches of snow and most of the state has a freeze. 

April 14, 1996: The deadliest tornado of 1996 moved across Stone and 
Izard Counties...killing 7 people. The tornado was rated an F4.     

April 14-27, 1927: Continued heavy rains cause extensive river 
flooding and many all time record river statges were reached 
including the Arkansas River at Little Rock on the 20th.

April 17, 1870: Little Rock has a white Easter due to snowfall.

April 19, 1968: Tornado at Greenwood with 12 fatalities.

April 21, 1996: Tornado hits downtown Fort Smith and Van Buren 
with two fatalities.
