Heavy Snow on March 6-7, 2008 (Pg2)
 
An intensifying storm system aloft ("X") arrived during the afternoon of 03/07/2007. While the storm systems in the Gulf of Mexico were moving away from Arkansas during the morning of the 7th, an intensifying system aloft was set to arrive from the Plains. This time, snow spread over the southeast half of the state during the afternoon hours.

As far as accumulations, round one was more potent...with widespread 4 to 8 inch amounts in northern and western Arkansas...and locally over a foot of snow. Snowfall on March 6-7, 2008.

Around Fox (Stone County), 18 inches of snow was reported, with 14 inches on Dodd Mountain near Mountain View (Stone County), 13 inches at Vendor (Newton County), and up to 12 inches around Dennard (Van Buren County) and Deer (Newton County).

 

Light snow fell in Jacksonville (Pulaski County) by the late morning of 03/07/2008, with heavier snow developing farther south and east. Two to six inches of snow was common (and locally more) with round two in the southern and eastern counties. White Hall (Jefferson County) had 7 inches of snow, with 6 inches at Brinkley (Monroe County) and Monticello (Drew County).
