On the 11th, a cold front pushed toward Arkansas from the north. Ahead of the front, scattered thunderstorms popped up during the afternoon.
| In the picture: The WSR-88D (Doppler Weather Radar) showed hit and miss thunderstorms developing ahead of a cold front at 358 pm CDT on 09/11/2013. |
| A few of the storms became severe. Damaging straight-line winds (microbursts) pushed trees onto power lines a few miles north of Russellville (Pope County). Around Danville (Yell County), more trees were pushed over, with part of a roof removed from a house. |
| In the picture: Storms on radar were readily visible on satellite at 345 pm CDT on 09/11/2013. |
The front arrived on the 12th, and storms flared up again. Quarter size hail was reported at Alexander (Pulaski County). Near town, a truck was apparently struck by lightning along Interstate 30. The same storm downed trees at Bryant (Saline County) as it collapsed. |
| In the picture: The WSR-88D (Doppler Weather Radar) showed a downburst signature just northeast of Bryant (Saline County) between 415 pm and 430 pm CDT on 09/12/2013. Winds from a severe storm hit the ground and spread out, with green colors (winds toward the radar) and red colors (winds away from the radar) moving in opposite directions. |
| Much cooler air followed the front, with high temperatures in the 70s/80s by the 14th. |
| In the picture: Clockwise flow around high pressure ("H") in Texas drove a cold front toward the Gulf Coast on 09/14/2013. It felt more like fall behind the front. |
