Heavy Rain on September 28-29, 2013 |

September ended on a wet note in Arkansas, especially in southern and western sections of the state. A slow moving cold front pushed into the region from the Plains, with showers and thunderstorms developing along the front.

Parts of the southwest picked up two to more than three inches of rain. Twenty four hour amounts through 700 am CDT on the 29th included 3.02 inches at Texarkana (Miller County) and 2.12 inches at Ashdown (Little River County). |

On the 29th, while heavy rain was more spotty, there were some totals over two inches in parts of the south. Dermott (Chicot County) got 2.55 inches, with 2.16 inches at Moro Bay State Park (Bradley County).

Rain in the south was a common theme during the month, especially in the last ten days. Some areas, including Texarkana (Miller County), received more than twice the normal precipitation.
