...STRONGEST TORNADOES IN CONWAY AND PERRY COUNTIES...

THE FIRST TORNADO TRACKED FROM 2.5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF 
MORRILTON...MOVED NORTHEAST THROUGH PLUMERVILLE...AND ENDED 1 MILE 
EAST OF SPRINGFIELD. THE PATH LENGTH WAS 15 MILES. THE TORNADO WAS 
RATED AS F3 ON THE FUJITA SCALE...WITH WINDS ESTIMATED AT 170 MPH.

DAMAGE INCLUDED CARS ON INTERSTATE 40 OVERTURNED. A LUMBER COMPANY 
WAS BADLY DAMAGED. A LARGE BARN WAS DESTROYED...WITH FOUR BASS BOATS 
AND THREE VEHICLES INSIDE. SEVERAL MOBILE HOMES WERE OVERTURNED... 
AND SEVERAL BUSINESSES WERE DESTROYED. SEVERAL HOUSES WERE DESTROYED 
AND DOZENS OF OTHERS WERE DAMAGED. SEVERAL CARS WERE BLOWN 150 TO 
200 YARDS...WITH NUMEROUS OTHER VEHICLES DAMAGED. A FIRE STATION WAS 
ALSO DAMAGED. NUMEROUS BARNS AND OUTBUILDINGS WERE DAMAGED...WITH 
SEVERAL CHICKEN HOUSES ALSO DAMAGED. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF TREES 
DOWN...WITH MANY POWER LINES AND SOME POWER POLES DOWN.

THE SECOND TORNADO TRACKED FROM 11 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THORNBURG... 
WHICH IS IN THE OUACHITA NATIONAL FOREST...TO 1.5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF 
OPPELO. THE PATH LENGTH WAS 21 MILES. THE TORNADO WAS RATED AS F3 ON 
THE FUJITA SCALE...WITH WINDS ESTIMATED AT 160 MPH.

THERE WERE ELEVEN LARGE STEEL TOWERS ON A 500 KILOVOLT POWER LINE 
THAT WERE BLOWN DOWN OR TWISTED. THE REPAIR ESTIMATE IS 2 TO 3 
MILLION DOLLARS. A SMALL SAWMILL WAS DESTROYED. SEVERAL HOUSES WERE 
DESTROYED AND A COUPLE DOZEN OTHERS WERE DAMAGED. SEVERAL MOBILE 
HOMES WERE OVERTURNED. NUMEROUS VEHICLES WERE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. 
NUMEROUS BARNS OR OUTBUILDINGS WERE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED...WITH 
SEVERAL CHICKEN HOUSES DAMAGED. MANY POWER LINES AND SOME POWER 
POLES WERE BLOWN DOWN. MANY HUNDREDS OF TREES WERE BLOWN DOWN.
