PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LITTLE ROCK AR
425 PM CDT MON MAY 2 2011

...TORNADO FROM SUNDAY EVENING VERIFIED IN CONWAY COUNTY...

TODAY...A SURVEY TEAM FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LITTLE
ROCK VERIFIED THAT A TORNADO OCCURRED BRIEFLY IN CONWAY COUNTY ON
SUNDAY EVENING.

THE TORNADO TRACKED FROM 0.5 MILE NORTHWEST OF CENTER RIDGE TO 1
MILE NORTHEAST OF CENTER RIDGE. THE PATH LENGTH WAS 1 MILE.

A NUMBER OF TREES WERE BLOWN DOWN. SEVERAL HOMES AND OUTBUILDINGS
WERE DAMAGED...PRIMARILY DUE TO FALLING TREES.

THERE WERE THREE REPORTS FROM THE PUBLIC OF A FUNNEL CLOUD...AND ONE
PERSON REPORTED A TORNADO. THESE REPORTS SUGGEST THAT THERE WAS
MUCH MORE ROTATION ALOFT THAN THERE WAS NEAR THE GROUND. IN OTHER
WORDS...PEOPLE WOULD HAVE OBSERVED A NOTICEABLE FUNNEL HANGING DOWN
FROM THE CLOUDS...BUT A MUCH NARROWER FUNNEL CLOSER TO THE GROUND.
