IN MAY OF 1961...HEAVY RAINS OVER THE CROOKED CREEK WATERSHED PRODUCED FLASH

ON THE 7TH. THIS OCCURRED AFTER OVER FIVE AN HALF INCHES OF RAIN HAD FALLEN
DURING THE PREVIOUS SIX DAYS. RECORD RAINS ALSO OCCURRED AT SALEM.

THE 1915 GALVESTON HURRICANE PASSED OVER THE AREA...AND AT DAMASCUS IN
AUGUST 1957...WHEN THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM BERTHA PRODUCED 11.00 INCHES
OF RAIN IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD. ALSO...THE REMNANTS OF THE 1915 HURRICANE PRODUCED
