HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEATHER IN 2006 FOR LITTLE ROCK ADAMS FIELD...

JANUARY...IT WAS THE WARMEST JANUARY SINCE 1933 AND THE 5TH TO
          WARMEST JANUARY ON RECORD SINCE 1880. THE AVERAGE HIGH
          TEMPERATURE WAS THE WARMEST SINCE 1880 AND WAS THE
          SECOND TO WARMEST ON RECORD ONLY TO THAT YEAR. IT WAS
          ALSO THE SECOND TIME THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE IN
          JANUARY WAS 60.0 DEGREES OR HIGHER. THE AVERAGE LOW
          TEMPERATURE WAS THE HIGHEST FOR JANUARY SINCE 1998
          AND WAS THE 15TH TO WARMEST ON RECORD SINCE 1880.
          IT WAS THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR AND THIRD TIME IN THE
          LAST FOUR YEARS THAT JANUARY WAS ABOVE NORMAL ON
          PRECIPITATION. IT WAS THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR FOR A
          TRACE OF SNOW IN JANUARY.

JANUARY 1...THE HIGH OF 77 DEGREES BROKE THE RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE
            FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 75 DEGREES FIRST
            SET IN 1910 AND TIED IN 1952. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THE
            TEMPERATURE REACHED 70 DEGREES FOR THE YEAR.

JANUARY 22...THE RAINFALL OF 1.88 INCHES WAS THE FIRST TIME THERE WAS
             AT LEAST ONE INCH OF RAINFALL IN A DAY FOR THE YEAR.

FEBRUARY...IT WAS THE 4TH TIME IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS THAT FEBRUARY
           WAS COLDER THAN NORMAL. IT WAS THE DRIEST FEBRUARY SINCE
           2002 AND THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR THAT FEBRUARY WAS BELOW
           NORMAL ON PRECIPITATION. IT WAS THE 4TH TIME IN THE LAST
           FIVE YEARS THAT THERE WAS MEASURABLE SNOWFALL DURING
           FEBRUARY.

FEBRUARY 19...THE HIGH OF 26 DEGREES WAS THE LOWEST MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE
              OF THE YEAR AND THE ONLY TIME THE TEMPERATURE DID NOT
              RISE ABOVE FREEZING ON A DAY DURING THE YEAR. THE LOW
              OF 18 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME THE TEMPERATURE FELL
              BELOW 20 DEGREES FOR THE SEASON.

FEBRUARY 20...THE HIGH OF 35 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME FOR THE
              SEASON THAT THE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 40 DEGREES.

MARCH...IT WAS THE SECOND TIME SINCE 2000 THAT MARCH WAS ABOVE NORMAL
        ON TEMPERATURE. IT WAS THE WETTEST MARCH SINCE 2002 BUT THE
        4TH STRAIGHT YEAR THAT MARCH WAS BELOW NORMAL ON
        PRECIPITATION. IT WAS THE 4TH STRAIGHT YEAR THAT THERE WAS
        NO SNOWFALL IN MARCH.

MARCH 1...THE HIGH OF 82 DEGREES BROKE THE RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE
          FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 81 DEGREES SET IN
          1972. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 80
          DEGREES FOR THE YEAR.

MARCH 10...THE 39 DEGREE RANGE BETWEEN THE HIGH AND LOW TEMPERATURE
           FOR THE DAY (79/40) WAS THE LARGEST RANGE BETWEEN THE
           HIGH AND LOW TEMPERATURE FOR A DAY DURING THE YEAR.

MARCH 12...THE HIGH OF 86 DEGREES BROKE THE RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE
           FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 85 DEGREES SET IN
           1967. THE LOW OF 71 DEGREES BROKE THE RECORD FOR THE
           HIGHEST MINIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS
           RECORD WAS 69 DEGREES SET IN 1967.

MARCH 23...THE HIGH OF 45 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME THE HIGH
           TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 50 DEGREES FOR THE SEASON.

MARCH 24...THE LOW OF 32 DEGREES WAS THE LAST FREEZE OF THE
           SEASON.

MARCH 26...THE LOW OF 33 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME THE TEMPERATURE
           WAS BELOW 40 DEGREES FOR THE SEASON.

MARCH 27...THE HIGH OF 59 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME THE HIGH
           TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 60 DEGREES FOR THE SEASON.

APRIL...IT WAS THE WARMEST APRIL SINCE 1896 AND THE SECOND TO WARMEST
        APRIL ON RECORD SINCE 1880. THE AVERAGE HIGH
        TEMPERATURE OF 79.3 DEGREES WAS THE HIGHEST ON RECORD FOR
        APRIL SINCE 1880. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 78.9 DEGREES SET
        IN 1954. THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS THE
        HIGHEST FOR APRIL SINCE 1927 AND WAS THE 4TH TO WARMEST ON
        RECORD SINCE 1880. IT WAS THE WETTEST APRIL SINCE 1991
        AND THE 16TH TO WETTEST APRIL ON RECORD SINCE 1880.

APRIL 17...THE HIGH OF 92 DEGREES BROKE THE RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE
           FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 90 DEGREES SET IN
           1937. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 90
           DEGREES FOR THE YEAR. IT WAS THE EARLIEST DATE THE
           TEMPERATURE REACHED 90 DEGREES SINCE 1978. THE LOW OF
           68 DEGREES BROKE THE RECORD FOR THE HIGHEST MINIMUM
           TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 66
           DEGREES SET IN 1963 AND TIED IN 1976 AND 1995.

APRIL 18...THE HIGH OF 94 DEGREES BROKE THE RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE
           FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 89 DEGREES SET IN
           1948. IT WAS THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE IN APRIL SINCE
           APRIL 20 1987.

APRIL 29...THE RAINFALL OF 2.65 INCHES BROKE THE RECORD FOR THE
           MOST RAINFALL ON THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS
           2.46 INCHES SET IN 1946.

MAY...IT WAS THE WARMEST MAY SINCE 1998 AND IT TIED 1957 FOR THE
      25TH TO WARMEST MAY ON RECORD SINCE 1880. IT WAS THE 4TH
      STRAIGHT YEAR THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN MAY WAS AT LEAST
      70.0 DEGREES. IT WAS THE WETTEST MAY SINCE 2003.

MAY 12...THE LOW OF 49 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME THE TEMPERATURE
         WAS BELOW 50 DEGREES FOR THE SEASON.

MAY 18...THE LOW OF 59 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME THE TEMPERATURE
         WAS BELOW 60 DEGREES FOR THE SEASON.

MAY 26...THE LOW OF 75 DEGREES BROKE THE RECORD FOR THE HIGHEST
         MINIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD
         WAS 72 DEGREES SET IN 1914 AND TIED IN 1917 AND
         1997.

MAY 28...THE LOW OF 73 DEGREES TIED THE RECORD FOR THE HIGHEST
         MINIMUM FOR THE DATE WHICH WAS FIRST SET IN 1912.

JUNE...IT WAS THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR THAT THE AVERAGE HIGH
       TEMPERATURE FOR JUNE WAS 90.0 DEGREES OR HIGHER. THE
       AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS THE LOWEST FOR JUNE SINCE
       2003. IT WAS THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR FOR JUNE TO HAVE
       LESS THAN 3 INCHES OF RAINFALL.

JULY...IT WAS THE HOTTEST JULY SINCE 1998 AND THE 14TH TO HOTTEST
       JULY ON RECORD SINCE 1879. IT WAS THE DRIEST JULY SINCE
       2001 AND THE 8TH TIME IN THE LAST 10 YEARS THAT
       JULY HAS BEEN BELOW NORMAL ON RAINFALL.

JULY 13...THE LOW OF 80 DEGREES WAS THE HIGHEST MINIMUM
          TEMPERATURE OF THE YEAR.

JULY 14...THE HIGH OF 101 DEGREES WAS THE FIRST TIME THE TEMPERATURE
          REACHED 100 DEGREES FOR THE YEAR.

JULY 19...THE HIGH OF 104 DEGREES BROKE THE RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE
          FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 103 DEGREES
          SET IN 1980. IT TIED FOR THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE
          OF THE YEAR.

JULY 20...THE HIGH OF 104 DEGREES TIED THE HIGHEST
          TEMPERATURE OF THE YEAR.

JULY 21...THE HIGH OF 104 DEGREES BROKE THE RECORD
          HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD
          WAS 102 DEGREES SET IN 1974. IT TIED FOR THE
          HIGHEST TEMPERATURE OF THE YEAR.

AUGUST...IT TIED 1987 FOR THE 12TH TO HOTTEST AUGUST
         ON RECORD SINCE 1879. IT WAS THE SECOND STRAIGHT
         YEAR THAT AUGUST WAS WARMER THAN NORMAL.
         IT WAS THE DRIEST AUGUST SINCE 2003 AND THE
         FIRST TIME SINCE THEN RAINFALL IN AUGUST
         WAS BELOW NORMAL.

AUGUST 10...THE LOW OF 79 DEGREES TIED THE RECORD FOR THE
            HIGHEST MINIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE WHICH
            WAS FIRST SET IN 1885 AND WAS TIED IN 1911 AND
            1934.

AUGUST 20...THE HIGH OF 102 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME THE
            HIGH TEMPERATURE REACHED 100 DEGREES FOR THE YEAR.

SEPTEMBER...IT WAS THE COOLEST SEPTEMBER SINCE 2003 AND THE FIRST
            TIME SINCE THEN THE TEMPERATURE HAS AVERAGED BELOW
            NORMAL SINCE THEN. THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE
            MONTH WAS THE LOWEST SINCE 1975 AND WAS THE 10TH TO
            LOWEST ON RECORD SINCE 1879. IT WAS THE WETTEST
            SEPTEMBER SINCE 1996 AND THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1997
            RAINFALL WAS ABOVE NORMAL IN SEPTEMBER.

SEPTEMBER 15...THE LOW OF 58 DEGREES WAS THE FIRST TIME THE
               TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 60 DEGREES SINCE MAY 18.

SEPTEMBER 29...THE LOW OF 45 DEGREES WAS THE FIRST TIME THE
               TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 50 DEGREES SINCE MAY 12.

OCTOBER...IT WAS THE COOLEST OCTOBER SINCE 2002 AND THE FIRST TIME
          SINCE THEN THE TEMPERATURE HAS AVERAGED BELOW NORMAL FOR
          OCTOBER. IT WAS THE 4TH TIME IN THE LAST 5 YEARS THE
          TEMPERATURE HAS REACHED 90 DEGREES DURING OCTOBER. IT
          WAS THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR THAT OCTOBER WAS BELOW
          NORMAL ON RAINFALL.

OCTOBER 4...THE HIGH OF 91 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME THE
            TEMPERATURE REACHED 90 DEGREES FOR THE YEAR.

OCTOBER 12...THE HIGH OF 56 DEGREES WAS THE FIRST TIME THE
             HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 60 DEGREES SINCE MARCH 27.

OCTOBER 13...THE LOW OF 37 DEGREES TIED THE RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE
             FOR THE DATE WHICH WAS FIRST SET IN 1977. IT WAS THE
             FIRST TIME THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 40 DEGREES SINCE
             MARCH 26.

OCTOBER 25...THE RAINFALL OF 1.67 INCHES BROKE THE RECORD FOR THE
             MOST RAINFALL ON THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS
             1.38 INCHES SET IN 1981.

NOVEMBER...IT WAS THE COOLEST NOVEMBER SINCE 2002 BUT THE 4TH
           STRAIGHT YEAR NOVEMBER HAS AVERAGED ABOVE NORMAL ON
           TEMPERATURE. IT WAS THE 5TH STRAIGHT YEAR THE TEMPERATURE
           HAS REACHED 80 DEGREES DURING NOVEMBER. IT WAS THE SECOND
           TIME IN THE LAST SIX YEARS THAT NOVEMBER WAS ABOVE NORMAL
           ON RAINFALL.

NOVEMBER 3...THE LOW OF 32 DEGREES WAS THE FIRST TIME THE
             TEMPERATURE REACHED FREEZING FOR THE FALL. THE
             FREEZE FREE PERIOD OR GROWING SEASON WAS 223 DAYS.

NOVEMBER 10...THE HIGH OF 81 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME THE
              TEMPERATURE REACHED 80 DEGREES FOR THE YEAR.

NOVEMBER 15...THE RAINFALL OF 3.91 INCHES BROKE THE RECORD FOR
              THE MOST RAINFALL ON THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD
              WAS 3.64 INCHES SET IN 1927. IT WAS THE MOST
              RAINFALL ON ANY DAY DURING THE YEAR AND THE MOST
              RAINFALL ON A DAY SINCE OCTOBER 29 1991.

DECEMBER...IT WAS THE WARMEST DECEMBER SINCE 1982 AND THE 22ND TO
           WARMEST DECEMBER ON RECORD SINCE 1879. IT WAS THE FIRST
           TIME SINCE 2003 THAT DECEMBER WAS ABOVE NORMAL ON
           TEMPERATURE. IT WAS THE WETTEST DECEMBER SINCE 2002
           AND THE FIRST TIME SINCE THEN THAT DECEMBER WAS ABOVE
           NORMAL ON RAINFALL. IT WAS THE 24TH TO WETTEST DECEMBER
           ON RECORD SINCE 1879.

DECEMBER 1...THE HIGH OF 46 DEGREES WAS THE FIRST TIME THE HIGH
             TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 50 DEGREES FOR THE SEASON.

DECEMBER 8...THE HIGH OF 36 DEGREES WAS THE FIRST TIME THE HIGH
             TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 40 DEGREES FOR THE SEASON.
             THE LOW OF 14 DEGREES WAS THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE OF
             THE YEAR. IT WAS THE EARLIEST DATE THE TEMPERATURE
             WAS THIS LOW SINCE 1950.

DECEMBER 17...THE HIGH OF 75 DEGREES WAS THE LAST TIME
              THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 70 DEGREES FOR THE
              YEAR.

DECEMBER 30...THE RAINFALL OF 2.50 INCHES WAS THE LAST TIME
              THERE WAS AT LEAST ONE INCH OF RAIN IN A
              DAY. THE RANGE OF 3 DEGREES BETWEEN THE HIGH
              AND LOW TEMPERATURE (60/57) WAS THE SMALLEST
              RANGE BETWEEN A HIGH AND LOW TEMPERATURE FOR
              A DAY DURING THE YEAR.
