THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR THE EXTREME SOUTHERN TEXAS
PANHANDLE...SOUTH PLAINS AND ROLLING PLAINS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

FIRE WEATHER

GUSTY SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS SUSTAINED AT 20 TO 30 MPH WILL BECOME
COMMON ACROSS THE SOUTH PLAINS AND ROLLING PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON.
THESE GUSTY WINDS WILL COMBINE WITH VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS TO
PRODUCE ELEVATED TO CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS
EVENING. THE LONGEST DURATION OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER IS EXPECTED
ACROSS THE CAPROCK...AND A RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON
UNTIL 9 PM. ELSEWHERE...A FIRE DANGER STATEMENT IS IN EFFECT FROM
MIDDAY TO MID-EVENING. ADDITIONALLY...THE GUSTY WINDS MAY CREATE
AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ON THE CAPROCK THIS AFTERNOON.

CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE SUNDAY AFTERNOON
SOUTH OF THE TEXAS PANHANDLE...AND A FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS IN
EFFECT FOR THIS AREA. ADDITIONALLY...STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS ARE
EXPECTED SUNDAY NIGHT AS A COLD FRONT PASSES THROUGH.
