Communities Seminar in Lubbock on September 20, 2007. |

This
first of its kind seminar was specifically designed for church and other
faith based organizations. Approximately 100 people were in attendance
at this event organized by the Lubbock County Local Emergency Planning
Committee, and hosted by Turning Point Community Church.
The goal of the seminar was to coordinate and organize emergency response
efforts, region-wide for all faith based organizations in preparing
for an emergency. Topics included: Overview of Response Effort, Lessons
from Katrina/Rita, What to Expect the First 72 Hours, and Disaster Team
Organization. Jody James, Shawn Ellis, and Ken Widelski worked at the
NWS Lubbock display, and handed out literature to many of the seminar
participants. Approximately 100 people were in attendance from the Lubbock
faith community, and at least half that many stopped by the NWS booth.
