Lubbock Weather Forecast Office (WFO) Participates in the 2009 Lubbock Career Expo October 20, 2009

 Lubbock Civic Center, Lubbock, TX, October 20, 2009. Forecasters Gary Skwira and Andrew Pritchett staff the NWS Lubbock display at the South Plains Tech Prep Career Expo. At least 3200 students participated in the event from 48 school districts.

The NWS Weather Forecast Office (WFO) participated in the South Plains Tech Prep Career Expo at the Lubbock Civic Center on October 20, 2009. Over 3,200 students participated in the event, representing 11th and 12th graders from 48 school districts from across the region.  WCM Jody James and forecasters Gary Skwira and Andrew Pritchett represented the NWS Lubbock office, with approximately 150 students visiting the Lubbock NWS display, and at least 25 students inquiring about a career in meteorology or the National Weather Service. The Lubbock NWS office has participated in this event 
for several  years .

Students who participated in the Expo learned about various career opportunities available to them and networked with exhibitors from area businesses and agencies. Organizations from various disciplines were involved including, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Arts and Communications; Education; Engineering and Industrial; Business, Marketing, Computer Technology, and Health Services.
