Severe and unusual weather events have always been of great interest to me and can be traced back to my childhood in the rolling prairies of Wisconsin. Much of this allure developed from witnessing the raw power of thunderstorms, blizzards and high windstorms and quickly evolved into a desire to learn the details behind these events. I followed this passion through college and upon graduation I entered the United States Air Force where I began my career as a meteorologist. A while later I entered the National Weather Service where I continue to follow my passion for understanding and forecasting severe weather phenomena. Besides the obligatory storm chasing when work permits, I keep busy with many interests such as: guitars, music, landscape photography, motorcycles, cars, hiking, and both slope and dynamic soaring.
