Meteorologist In Charge (MIC)
National Weather Service – Lubbock TX

Introduction:
As Meteorologist-in-Charge, I oversee all aspects of the NWS Lubbock meteorological, climatological and hydrological programs. It is my responsibility to ensure that the citizens of the South Plains, Rolling Plains and extreme southern Texas Panhandle receive timely and accurate weather warnings and forecasts. Through help and consultation with our expert staff members, I also identify users and their needs, obtain feedback on our products and services as well as collaborate and build partnerships with Texas Tech University and other research organizations and government agencies.

I am the son of a lifetime auto worker and was born and raised just outside of Flint, Michigan. I gained a fascination for weather while in Junior High and knew right away that I wanted a career in meteorology. After completing a Bachelor's degree at Central Michigan University in 1988, I wanted to go where the severe weather was and landed in Lubbock at Texas Tech University. Other than a four year sojourn to Michigan from 1998-2001, I have been in Lubbock ever since.
