National Weather Service New Orleans/Baton Rouge
NOAA Weather Radio Tour
The National Weather Service office in Slidell is proud to announce that we will be holding a series of Weather Radio Wednesday events as a part of the Weather-Ready Nation initiative. These events are designed to make sure that everyone in our area has access to a working NOAA Weather Emergency Radio in times of need. In addition, the staff on hand at these events will also help with programming your radio (if possible) in order to ensure that your radio receives the specific information to your area. These events will bring together the National Weather Service, local television stations, Walgreens and Midland Radio all of which will play a role in helping to ensure the goal. The events will be held at local Walgreens stores where new Midland radios can be purchased and programmed on the spot for your use. We will also gladly help you in getting your current radio operational and programming it so that it can receive the alerts we generate at the office in Slidell. We will also have the Significant Weather Emergency Response Vehicle (SWERV) on hand in order for people to tour and to see the new and innovate ways we are responding to incidents in our area. Additional events will be added to the schedule as they are confirmed. We look forward to the events and hope to see you at one!
