Hails and Farewells

Sadly, WFO Lake Charles said goodbye to its leader, Meteorologist-In-Charge Steve Rinard, who retired shortly after the first of the year.

Steve was in charge of the office for over 8 years.  In his long service at WFO Lake Charles, Steve oversaw several major weather events that impacted several hundred thousands of citizens across Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, including the Ice Storm of 1997, Tropical Storm Frances in 1998, Tropical Storm Allison in June 2001, Hurricane Lili in October 2002, the tornado outbreak of November 2004, Hurricane Rita in September 2005, and the flooding of October 2006.

All of us at WFO Lake Charles wish Steve the very best in his retirement!
