Known as Altocumulus Standing Lenticularis (ACSL), these clouds are formed on the crests of waves crested by barriers in the wind flow. The clouds show little movement hence the name "standing". Wind, however, can be quite strong blowing through the cloud. They are characterized by their smooth, polished edges. To learn more about clouds go to JetStream - an Online School for Weather.
