Uluru (Ayers Rock) is one of the world's largest monolith. Located in central Australia, Uluru is 1,142 feet above the plains and the base is about 5 miles (15 kilometers) around. Most of the rain in Central Australia is the result of summer (December-February) monsoon activity that brings large volumes of rain to northern Australia as well as tropical cyclones that originate off the north-west coast.
